This is What Happens When You Dip A McDonald’s Cheeseburger In Stomach Acid

We have to warn you that the next video may destroy cheeseburgers for you forever.

You may not know this, but hydrochloric acid is found in your stomach (as a main ingredient). It’s a strong compound and it has many industrial uses, from processing leather to removing rust from steel. This acid starts the digestive process and breaks food down into usable components that will give us nutrients.

Sroll for the video

Thanks to the video made by The University of Nottingham’s Periodic Table of Videos YouTube series you can see what happens when you put a cheeseburger in this powerful compound. They left the burger in it for three and a half hours.

“As you’re watching me, churning away in your stomach is acid which is one of the first stages in which food is broken down into usable components to give you energy or to make you fat,” Martyn Poliakoff, a chemist at the university, says in the video.
