People don’t often talk about depression because it really feels awkward to bring it up. You can feel ashamed if you talk about what you’re going through. Robin Williams comes in my mind…
In order to increase public awareness of the condition, Blurt, a charity dedicated to understanding depression, started the hashtag #WhatYouDontSee on Monday. Since then, people on Twitter have been using the hashtag to share their experiences and they put to light parts of the condition.
This trend highlights the fact that even on your worst days, you are not alone in your suffering. This way people help each other. They are in the same boat basically. And maybe because they are strangers they can speak freely knowing that no one will judge. It’s great to see that people try to support each other.
