Why should anyone build a 40 watt laser shotgun? It’s simple, just because they can. Drake Anthony shows off his latest gadget, a homemade laser shotgun. Yes, he built a laser shotgun by himself.
His laser uses eight parallel 5W laser beams totaling to 40 watts of power and is powered by a huge lithium polymer battery pack (250A) and the laser array is regulated by a whopping 24 LM317 driver.
According to Drake, “The parallel beams are manipulated with lenses, sort of like how a choke modifies the spread of a shotgun blast.”
This laser can burn through a ping pong ball and it’s capable of setting fire to pieces of wood.
If you want to buy the most powerful laser shotgun from a store, you’ll get one of 0.005 watts. US Navy has a prototype laser cannon and can shoot down a drone that has 30,000 watts. Pretty impressive, right? Even he thinks the huge laser shotgunis crazy and he is afraid to use that beast he managed to create.
