Therapy Dog Takes A New Toy To Bed Each Night

Meet Mojito, the 3-year-old therapy dog who absolutely LOVES her toys. You know that every dog loves toys, but with this pooch love is just something else.

It’s been one and a half years since the dog started bringing toys to bed. Each night, the pooch picks a different one, searching the whole house for each. Every night her journey upstairs  with her chosen toy is photographed by her parents.

“She is very specific about what she chooses to take to bed. She will search the house and empty her toy boxes until she finds whatever one she is looking for,” Kim Downie, Mojito’s mom, told The Dodo.

“Mojito has tons of toys … way too many. She insists on picking one out every time we go to the store and of course BarkBox sends her new toys every month,” she added.

“She is very specific about what she chooses to take to bed. She will search the house and empty her toy boxes until she finds whatever one she is looking for.” All the toys stay upstairs until she decides otherwise. “If we move them back downstairs, she will carry them right back up,” Downie said.

Scientists call this kind of behavior neophilia, preference for new things, and claim that dogs have it. If your are a dog owner and you are dealing with it and you want to save some money, experts recommends to change the scent to an old toy and preted it’s a new one. Or you can just hide the toy from the dog for some time and then making it re-appear.
