Meet Celeste Barber, the australian comedian who is focused on making parodies of celebrity Instagram pictures. And she is encouraging others to do the same using #CelesteChallengeAccepted hashtag.
Anyone, especially celebs, who’s posting anything on social media (or anywhere on the internet) becomes a target of comments, justified or not. So everyone has to assume this, the internet it’s a public space and everyone is entitled to opinions.
Barber had this hilarious idea and all started as a joke. Since celebrities keep posting pictures of them in strange, awkward poses, she continues with her photo series of parodies.
After her first parodies, she told Daily Mail, “People take it all too seriously, they have such an obsession with celebrities, the rich, the privileged and all these life-style blogger but yet the celebrities think they are doing normal things. Kim Kardashian posing in a pile of dirt; who does that in real life?”
Now, she reached 1.3 million followers on her Instagram account.
“People are really supporting it – I didn’t really care for how it would be perceived, I just started it for my friends who I knew would love it. I continued it because people are telling me it is their daily laugh and they have started to challenge me,” Barber told Daily Mail.
